После подключения к Wi-Fi обновление прошивки начнётся автоматически - но совершенно не обязательно, что именно в день её выхода. Как определить версию прошивки?

Внимание! Джейлбрэк на прошивки с 5.5.x до 5.8.7 включительно устанавливается только через заводское обновление! Откат на более старую стандартную прошивку для версий ≥5.5.x, а также заводское обновление для версий ≥5.8.8 - не работают.
Обновление сделано накатыванием образа rootfs.img, поэтому затрёт все хаки. Ну и, по старой-доброй традиции, после обновления актуальные хаки запросто могут отказаться устанавливаться/работать.

Странно. На Amazon написано что обновление автоматически скачается и установится при подключении WiFi. Включил. Ждал. Ничего не скачивает хотя WiFi нормально работает - в магазин заходит и файлы с облака синхронизирует. Непонятно. Вручную лень устанавливать. У кого через сколько после опубликования обновления на сайте Amazon KPW2 сама скачала и поставила обновления 5.4.2?

У кого поставилась 5.4.2, поделитесь впечатлениями о призрачных книгах и коллекциях.
Прочитал на форумах, что у людей с несколькими Киндлами (включая и Fire) на каждом устройстве видны пустые коллекции с других устройств, а удалить нельзя - они все синхронизованы и при удалении на одном тут же удаляются на другом. Кроме того, в своих собственных коллекциях на PW2 видны серые, неудаляемые призраки всех книг, когда-либо побывавших в каждой коллекции. Хотел приобрести PW2 для жены, но призадумался... а стоит ли?
Может быть, существует возможность новый, с 5.4.2 PW2 как-то перепрошить на прежнюю прошивку, как там ее звали, 5.4.1? Это было бы решением до того, как амазон выпустит исправление. _________________ Kindle Voyage Рекомендации по межформатному конвертированию
Cерые "призраки" коллекций второго ридера удалились "Призраки" самих книжек не возникали, но возникли "дубли" коллекций с одинаковьім набором книг, именно в тех случаях, когда коллекции в обеих ридерах были названьі чуть по разному и физически присутсвовали на обеих ридерах в идентичных папках... Из новшеств, новой прошивки, что пока заметил - при синхронизации появляется список документов (книг), предназначенных для загрузки на Киндл, все с пометкой "Pending" (ожидание в очереди на загрузку). А когда вы уничтожали лишние коллекции на одном ридере, то они (при включенном WiFi) удалялись с другого ридера? Если так, то это значит, что наличие на одном экаунте двух ридеров от двух разных пользователей приведет к тому, что невозможно будет от чужих коллекций избавиться. Если у меня двадцать коллекций, а у жены тридцать, то у каждого будут на ридере пятьдесят. И по ошибке можно будет прикончить коллекции с другого ридера. В ноябре киндл обновил прошивку и после этого даже маленькие пдф стало нереально читать - 3-4 перелистывания и выскакивает окно "Low Memory и далее мол у киндла не хватает памяти открыть этот документ". Что подскажете? В прошивках пока не силен - не было надобности заниматься.

Здесь активно обсуждают и утверждают, что добавлено быстрое переключение словарей - так же как в PW1. Коллекции с других Киндлов на эккаунте можно теперь отфильтровать из поля зрения.
