While iRex and Sony are talking up their e-paper-based machines, what if a Chinese newcomer steals the show> No, I doubt it’ll happen. Still, an outfit called JCNIP is to come out with a new machines later this month with a price tag under $300, and it might even include new e-paper from Fujitsu. Here are specs in the words of a forum user at MobileRead:

Display and screen: 5-inch, the display technology is still unknown, but someone from inside said it has licensed an all-new Japanese technology (Fujitsu’s e-paper? Just a guess.)

Any TeleBloggers care to go to the JCNIP site and translate the Chinese? As for the PDF mentioned above—well, don’t hold your breath about reading DRMed books in that format. Oh, the fun of the Tower of eBabel. Even the Sony Reader can’t read DRMed PDF.
